Armando Perez, frontman and producer of ÉSSO, is set to release a new solo breakbeat dance track.
The single, entitled “Ahi Nama,” combines Latin music influences with electric guitars and vintage keyboards, all performed by Perez.
“Since the pandemic altered the big band approach we have in ÉSSO, I’ve been working on solo productions and concepts for the record label,” Perez recently said. “Multi-tracking is the best way for me to work out my new ideas.”
Perez recorded and shot the new single at his own Belmont Electric Studios in Chicago’s Hermosa neighborhood. The video showcases Perez in the studio performing all the parts separately. The song features twangy electric and reverb effected guitars, funky bass stabs, and analog synth leads.
“Listeners can imagine the scene of a breakdancing battle between the b-boys/b-girls and house-heads on the dance floor,” says Perez.
“Ahi Nama” is Perez’s first solo song release of 2021 following last year’s cumbia EP, RAZA.
